There's something satisfying about things that come in threes. Three rivers meeting at a bend. Three cities growing so close together they share an economy, a highway, and a sense of place. Whether they call themselves Tri-Cities, a Triangle, a Triad, or even the Triple Cities, these clusters of communities have built something greater than the sum of their parts — and they make for some of the most interesting gift destinations on the map.
At YHM Designs, we make gifts tied to the places that matter. So naturally, we had to celebrate the threes.
The Tri-Cities of British Columbia
Tucked into Metro Vancouver, the BC Tri-Cities — Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody — sit at the eastern edge of one of Canada's most dynamic urban regions. All three are served by Vancouver International Airport (YVR), and all three share the kind of mountain-meets-city energy that makes the Pacific Northwest so distinctive.
If you're shopping for someone who calls this corner of BC home, our Vancouver collection is your starting point.
The Tri-Cities of Washington State
In southeastern Washington, three rivers — the Columbia, the Yakima, and the Snake — converge to form one of the most geographically striking regions in the Pacific Northwest. Kennewick, Pasco, and Richland grew up around that confluence, and today the Washington Tri-Cities are known for wine country, the Hanford Site's complex history, and a tight-knit community identity.
Pasco is the airport city here, served by the Tri-Cities Airport (PSC). Find gifts rooted in this region in our Pasco collection.
The Tri-Cities of Tennessee & Virginia
Johnson City, Kingsport, and Bristol straddle the Tennessee-Virginia state line in the southern Appalachians — a region with deep roots in country and bluegrass music, outdoor recreation, and Appalachian heritage. Bristol even splits its famous main street down the state line. The region is served by Tri-Cities Regional Airport (TRI), and we're proud to carry gifts for this corner of the Appalachians.

Speaking of Johnson City — there's another one. And it also comes in threes.
The Triple Cities of New York
Binghamton, Endicott, and Johnson City are known as the Triple Cities — a tight urban band along the Susquehanna River in New York's Southern Tier, with a proud industrial heritage and a distinct identity all their own. Same name as their Appalachian neighbour to the south, different state entirely. The region's general aviation airport in Endicott carries the Tri-Cities name, but commercial travellers fly in and out of Greater Binghamton Airport (BGM).

Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario
Southern Ontario's answer to the Tri-Cities is the Waterloo Region — Kitchener, Cambridge, and Waterloo — a cluster that punches well above its weight as a tech and innovation hub, home to the University of Waterloo and a thriving startup scene. Locals have called it the Tri-Cities for decades, even as the region has grown into something larger.

The Michigan Tri-Cities: Saginaw, Midland & Bay City
Along the Saginaw River in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, Saginaw, Midland, and Bay City form a regional cluster with deep roots in manufacturing, chemical industry, and Great Lakes culture. The three cities share MBS International Airport — the "MBS" standing for Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw, in that order.

The Golden Triangle, Mississippi
In the northeastern corner of Mississippi, Columbus, Starkville, and West Point form what locals call the Golden Triangle — a region tied together by agriculture, manufacturing, and Mississippi State University. Columbus is the airport city, served by Golden Triangle Regional Airport (GTR).

The Research Triangle, North Carolina
Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill form one of the most recognized "triangles" in North America — the Research Triangle, anchored by three major universities (NC State, Duke, and UNC) and one of the continent's most celebrated tech and biotech corridors. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) serves the region.

The Triad, North Carolina
Not to be confused with its Research Triangle neighbour to the east, the Piedmont Triad — Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point — is a distinct region with its own identity rooted in furniture manufacturing, tobacco history, and a thriving arts scene. The Triad has two airport anchors: Piedmont Triad International (GSO) in Greensboro and Smith Reynolds Airport (INT) in Winston-Salem.

Hampton Roads, Virginia
Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and Chesapeake anchor the Hampton Roads region — a coastal metropolitan area shaped by the sea, the U.S. Navy, and centuries of American history. Sometimes called the "Tidewater Tri-Cities," the region shares Norfolk International Airport (ORF) as its main gateway.

The Exception: The Quad-Cities
Of course, good things don't always come in threes. Sometimes they come in four — like a four-leaf clover, the rare exception that makes the rule worth celebrating.
The Quad-Cities straddle the Iowa-Illinois border along the Mississippi River: Davenport and Bettendorf on the Iowa side, Rock Island and Moline on the Illinois side. Four cities, one river, one region. Moline is the airport city, served by the Quad City International Airport (MLI).
